Music

Play me, but close your eyes when you’re done.

Drop from now into an abyss, freeing senses from torture, from pricking mortality. Drop from the sky, from heaven, to a world of images that pass as fast as the eyes can move. Your perceptions are mortal too, as mortal as you.

Walk into a room, it is cold on your skin. A moment ago light shone through a window, picking up dust. The dusk has settled with you, light, bright as a memory now, the dust has settled and that portion of the world has is gone. The world immediately before you is a shade of blue, no longer sharp and warm. The very limit of the world you can feel is here. How far can you feel?

I knew a man who’s entire world was in his head. from the hospital he lived in he was aboard a ship, sailing through the ocean past ports and people. My ocean is dark, the moon strips the black into white, spotted across waves at night. Smoothly gliding I ripple into a dream. Dream with me past the world over the edge into eternity.

And every day, aboard this ship children giggle in figments, smiling skipping ropes whoosh through silence, the silent world. Fracture that world, time comes toward you, and with each new crash of moments you land on a shore of consciousness as far from reality as you began, you are home. The grass is green, the sun bathes you as you wake.

  1. That post is amazing I love it all ! Amazing photo, the music is so ethereal at first making it hypnotic, whilst you read your words.
I love the way you describe the light and the coldness of the room.
It all reminds me of being in deep relaxation when I used to practice yoga, you would be in a state half way between conscious and asleep. An amazing place, an amazing post You are very clever x

    • Hey there. I really wanted a place to try and piece a complete experience of the mind, for there to be a surreal quality embedded in real images, most of which come from either my own experience and memory or from people I worked with when I worked in a psychiatric hospital. People used to be really open about the visions and fantasies that they had, and for me at least, there was always something real about them, as if they were abstractions from the immediate experiences they were having. For me though it was the coming home, the journey through the mind into an abyss of mind and back to a place that was the same after the journey as it was before. The music and the image were meant to be congruent with the whole tone of the piece and was supposed to come together as a complete whole.

I think that there is something like meditation to it. I wanted the reader to have a moment of meditation reading it, something that could be taken away for them, for me it was the immediate recognition of the mind, consciousness and memory, the ability to identify the images in our own minds that were supposed to convey that over.

I’m really glad you liked it.

This was a good post to read before I go to bed. I enjoyed the ethereal feel of the music, and the same feeling continued into your prose.
    Thank you for the serenity
